Day 1

Meet and assist on arrival at Bandaranaike International airport and proceed to Dambulla

Upon arrival in Dambulla visit the rock temple  in Dambulla

Dambulla rock temple was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters

Day 2

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya  to Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. Day 3

After breakfast proceed to Minneriya

MINNERIYA ELEPHANT GATHERING

The gathering of elephants at Minneriya is a wonderful opportunity for the wild life enthusiast and casual traveler to watch and observe the social dynamics of elephants at leisure. Sri Lankan Tourism has realized the potential of this uniqueness event and has now embarked on a campaign to popularize and publicize this event, branded as ‘The Gathering’. Already thousands of visitors are rushing to view this wonderful spectacle, and if properly managed and publicized, this could eventually become as popular and well-known the world over as the Masai Mara Wild beast migration This generally takes place in August-September

Thereafter proceed to Kandy. Enroute visit a Spice Garden in Matale

Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Here, clients could see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed

The hill capital is another” world heritage site.” It was the last stronghold of the Sinhalese kings during  the Portuguese, Dutch & British rule  and finally ceded to the British in 1815 after an agreement. To Buddhists of Sri Lanka & the world, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the “Dalada Maligawa” – temple of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha .

Day 4

After breakfast city tour and shopping in Kandy and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route to Nuwara-eliya you may witness the beautiful cascading waterfalls and mountains.

Nuwara-eliya is known as the little England of Sri Lanka’ is set against beautiful backdrops of mountains, valleys, waterfalls and tea plantations.

It is one of the coolest places in the island.

Could visit a tea factory, stop over at the Ramboda Falls and evening city tour and walk around Gregory’s lake

Where the best tea in the world is produced. Here you could observe all about the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.

Day 5

After breakfast proceed to Kaluthara via Kitulgala. Enroute pass by St.Clairs, Devon and Aberdeen Waterfalls

KITULGALA

The Kelani River (the broadest river in Sri Lanka) flowing through Kitulgala was the main location where the Oscar winning movie “Bridge on the River Kwai” was filmed. On the hill above this town, a prehistoric cave was recently discovered containing large maddens of shells from some unknown civilization. The town is situated on a particularly delightful stretch of the Kelani River that incorporates rock-strewn sections and rapids, often enclosed by high banks of tall bamboo, conditions ideal for the sport of white-water rafting. As a result Kitulgala has become the capital of white-water rafting in Sri Lanka.

After lunch proceed to Kalutara. Enroute visit a Gem Factory in Ratnapura. Overnight stay in Kalutara

Day 6

After breakfast explore Kalutara and proceed to Colombo.

Kalutara is a resort town located approximately 40 km south of Colombo. Once an important spice-trading center, the city’s name is derived from the Kalu Ganga River. The 38-meter long Kalutara Bridge was built at the mouth of the Kalu Ganga River and serves as a major link between the country’s western and southern border. At the southern end of the bridge lies the 3 stories-high Kalutara Vihara, a Buddhist temple built in the 1960s which holds the distinction of being the only stupa in the world that is hollow.

Day 7

Departure to the air port according to flight timings
